Hotel Etschquelle is the perfect resort for winter sports
Reschenpass belongs to the Vinschgau Valley and is ideal for snow and summer sports. Our hotel is located nearby the skiing, mountain biking and hiking resort Schöneben-Haideralm. The area offers more than 65 km of ski tracks and pistes. The perfect place for a beautiful view on the Reschensee and many outdoor activities. From December until April, prepared pistes and lots of sunshine are waiting for the ambitious sportsman. Lake Reschen with its famous Bell Tower is within walking distance and also offers a variety of exciting activities during the cold season such as ice skating, snow kiting, ice yachting, cross-country skiing and invites you to stroll around.
Skiing and snowboarding
Ski pleasure for the whole family! Thanks to a single ski pass for three ski areas with 28 lifts and 115 kilometers of well-groomed slopes that are suitable for everyone. The ski paradise Schöneben-Haideralm is located on the South Tyrolean side, the ski resort Nauders in Austria. In Schöneben-Haideralm you can look forward to wide slopes and great downhill possibilities. Perfect for the whole family. You will have reliable snow conditions and the little skiers can learn skiing in the baby ski school. Not far from the Hotel Etschquelle, not only skiers will have fun, also snowboarders in the Snowpark Schöneben. With the new fun slope, the new top spot of the young snowboard scene, where snowboarders can let off steam and ride different halfpipes. The several times awarded snow park is a true insider tip in South Tyrol, thanks to the special highlight: The biggest kicker in the park with its 13 meters height. The park is divided into a beginner area, a medium kicker line and pro-line for professionals, offering something for every level.
In addition to the ski resort Schöneben-Haideralm, you can use other ski resorts with the Ortler ski arena: The ski resort Nauders at the Reschenpass, the ski resort Sulden and Trafoi at the Ortler, the ski resort Watles as well as the ski resort Schnastaler Gletscher.
Snowshoeing and ski tours
In Reschen and surroundings, hikers have countless opportunities to explore the area on the signposted trails. The mountain area on the borders of Italy, Austria and Switzerland offers about 500 kilometres of hiking trails. You can find easier and more challenging trails, but you can be sure to find the right level of difficulties for you. The local tourist office can give you information about a numerous of guided hikes. Of course, you can also hike on your own initiative. Please note in any case the regulations.
In the Vinschgau Oberland especially snowshoe hikers will find an extensive network of hiking trails. You can easily explore untouched natural landscape and lonely woods. Some trails are leading to alpine pastures that are also open during the wintertime. Ski tourers can enjoy as well a diverse range of tours in the Rechenpass region. The Rojental and the Langtauferer valley at the foot of the Ötztal Alps are worthwhile destinations for groups and people in good shape.
Cross-country skiing
The cross-country paradise Reschen has many cross-country ski-tracks for cross-country skiing fans. The high plateau at the Reschen- and Haidersee offers perfect conditions for fans of the Nordic skiing sport. Around 22 kilometres of cross-country ski-tracks run through the beautiful snowy landscape, sunny fields and wonderful woodlands. Especially, the three nation’s cross-country ski-track that leads to Nauders (Austria) is very popular with cross-country fans. The “Weißkugel” ski-track at the Langtauferer valley which runs around 15 kilometres through the unique winter landscape of the Reschenpass is also very popular.
Snow kite
A new feeling between snowboarding and paragliding: Many athletes try this extreme sport, because on the Reschensee kite surfers will find the ideal weather and wind conditions. During the wintertime, the reservoir is completely frozen and offers the perfect surface for snow kiting fun.

Sledding
The sport on two runners offers the complete family pure fun; not only during the day, also in the evening you will have the opportunity to roar down the toboggan runs in Reschen and in St. Valentin auf der Heide. The toboggan runs in the middle of a beautiful larch wood are floodlighted until 23:00 pm every day. Part of a real toboggan ride is the climb on foot and will be completed by a stop in the pub to warm up, strengthen and to finish the evening in a nice atmosphere. At the top of the list is a special highlight the fun full moon sledding.
